My Story
Take it from me…
In 2007, I opened my first childcare business (the same year that my friend opened her childcare business as well). We had both quit our comfortable government teaching careers in order to live out our dreams of becoming childcare business owners.
At the time, I already had 10 years of experience behind me (my friend had 12 years).
For those first few years, we both quickly noticed that we were feeling overworked, underpaid, and stressed out beyond our capacities.
We both were licensed for 130 children, but we had NO CLUE what we were about to encounter in our childcare businesses.
Regardless of us living in different states, we were both experiencing the same issues with our businesses:
- Staffing issues
- Facility issues
- Too much paperwork
- High taxes
- Parents not paying tuition on time (or sometimes at all)
We were both exhausted and left feeling like no one could help us. We had no money, no extra support, and we had to watch as our bills just piled up in front of us.
By the 5th year of her business, my friend lost EVERYTHING. She went bankrupt. She was forced to close her precious childcare center, causing her to lose sight of that financial freedom she had set out for.
