What You Can Do to Make Time for Yourself: My Top Self-Care Tips

You’ve probably heard this said many times in your life…“You cannot give what you do not have.” If you’ve not heard those exact words then you’ve heard something similar, right?

This is true when it pertains to your business as well. Think about it…how can you be good to your employees, your daycare children, or their parents when you’re not prioritizing time for self-care?

Schedule Self-Care

It may sound silly to schedule time for yourself but trust me, it’s necessary.

I say this because I speak from experience. For years, I worked on my business nonstop. Eventually, the lack of downtime caught up to me.

Think about what happens to you when you become overwhelmed. Have you ever experienced a breakdown? Or have you felt burnt out entirely? These feelings are awful, but thankfully they’re also totally avoidable if you schedule self-care.

The best way for you to prioritize your own self-care time is by actually putting it on your calendar. You likely already use a calendar or a planner to keep up with the many tasks you have in both your personal and professional lives. So start considering your self-care time as a priority and write it down as one of your routine to-do list items.

What you do with your self-care time can vary depending on what your hobbies are or what things make you feel rejuvenated or relaxed. Try a yoga class. Meditate. Go shopping or pick up your favorite coffee beverage. Or better yet, schedule a vacation!

The Importance of Delegating

Many business owners will often overlook the importance of delegation. Delegating tasks can be a very powerful thing when done correctly.

Look at your team of employees. Have them each take personality tests or similar tests that will reveal each of their strengths and weaknesses. Once you have this knowledge, the power is truly in your hands. Then you can take that power and use it to delegate your many tasks.

Want to know what the best part about delegating tasks is? That means that there are fewer tasks that you are responsible for on your own!

Delegating frees up time for you, but it also has another great benefit – it makes your employees feel important. This is especially true when the tasks you have delegated to them give them a chance to showcase their strengths.

Give each of your employees some new tasks to handle regularly and free up more time for that self-care you just learned about!

The Bottom Line

Now you understand the importance of self-care and how to prioritize that time for yourself regularly.

You also now understand why you should learn to delegate. Not only does it free up much of your own time, but it will give your employees value. As they feel appreciated, they’ll want to do their best to impress you in their work efforts.

Remember…

Happy self equals happy employees.

Happy employees equal happy daycare children.

Happy daycare children equal happy daycare parents.

When the parents are happy, you are happy. Then the cycle continues.
